Dinner 5:30pm • Film 7pm

Rialto Cinemas will screen “The Gleaners and I” and “The Gleaners and I: Two Years Later,” by acclaimed French nouvelle vague filmmaker Agnes Varda.

Prior to the screening, 35 guests will enjoy a bountiful fall feast, prepared by James Beard Award winner Michele Anna Jordan and Rialto Cinemas’ kitchen team.

This unique one day only event celebrates both the spirit of Varda, the richness of Sonoma County’s vibrant foods as well as the mission of Farm to Pantry and the delicious cuisine of Michele Anna Jordan. Join us for what is sure to be a delicious fall treat!

Gleaning refers to an age-old tradition of allowing peasants to follow behind farmers to collect – i.e., glean – what the farmers have left or dropped. Agnes Varda’s two films explore and expand the concept and Rialto Cinemas joins in, with a special gleaned dinner experience showcasing the abundance of Sonoma County’s harvest.

Prior to the screening, 35 guests will enjoy a bountiful fall feast, prepared by James Beard Award winner Michele Anna Jordan and Rialto Cinemas’ kitchen team.

The meal will celebrate fall fruit and vegetable gleaning, with assistance from Farm To Pantry, its executive director Duskie Estes, and several volunteers, including Kelly Conrad.

Farm to Pantry will source for Rialto Cinemas’ Kitchen gleaned ingredients for our feast. Although we will not know the exact dishes until then, we have a few details: Dessert will be Quince Strudel, with quince from Michele’s trees. Creamy polenta, with polenta from a local farm, will form the basis of the main course. Look for the Three Sisters – beans, corn, squash – to be represented.
