Werewolf Serenade
Q&A with writer-director Daedalus Howell following the film!
Wednesday, October 30 7pm
Werewolf Serenade is a campy, low-budget indie dramedy about a middle-aged couple navigating the humorous challenges of transforming into a werewolf. When the Chair of the Parapsychology Department at the Freestone School of the Arts goes missing, burnt-out film professor Peter MacTire is asked to step in and complete his generously endowed research project. With the school’s fate on the line, MacTire accepts, not knowing the task will bring him face-to-face with an evil occultist and transform his life — and his marriage to a concert cellist —forever. Throughout the 80s-influenced cinematic ode to Generation X, lycanthropy proves an apt metaphor for everything from body horror, alcoholism, mental illness, career stagnation, and the existential crises of waking up suddenly in one’s 50s. Werewolf Serenade is the second feature film from the married filmmaking team of producer and production designer Kary Hess and writer-director Daedalus Howell.
