Méliès: Fairy Tales in Color

Silent Movie Day is an annual celebration of silent movies, a vastly misunderstood and neglected cinematic art form. We believe that silent motion pictures are a vital, beautiful, and often powerful part of film history, and we are united with others in the goal to advocate for their presentation and preservation.
Beginning in 2008 Flicker Alley and Blackhawk Films® have featured and celebrated the extraordinary work of Georges Méliès in various Blu-ray, DVD, and digital editions. Now, thanks to the extensive restoration efforts of Lobster Films, viewers will be equally delighted by the clarity, creativity and compositions of this new HD collection.
Over the past ten years, many Méliès elements have been newly rediscovered, and are presented on screen, culled from the best archival materials and using the most recent restoration technologies available.
Focusing on a selection of hand-colored films, and designed to feature Méliès’ love of storytelling, this collection showcases Méliès’ talent for bringing imagination and fantasy to his films.
