Week of September 3rd - September 9th

Greetings from Rialto Cinemas Cerrito!

Opening this week we have George Clooney in The American! Academy Award winner George Clooney stars in the title role of this suspense thriller. As an assassin, Jack (Clooney) is constantly on the move and always alone. After a job in Sweden ends more harshly than expected, Jack retreats to the Italian countryside. He relishes being away from death for a time as he holes up in a small medieval town. Savoring the peaceful quietude he finds in the mountains of Abruzzo, Jack accepts the friendship of local priest Father Benedetto and pursues a torrid liaison with a beautiful woman, Clara. Jack and Clara's time together evolves into a romance, one seemingly free of danger. But by stepping out of the shadows, Jack may be tempting fate. Watch a featurette from the movie here.

Eat Pray Love continues this week! Liz Gilbert (Julia Roberts) had everything a modern woman is supposed to dream of having-a husband, a house, a successful career-yet like so many others, she found herself lost, confused, and searching for what she really wanted in life. Newly divorced and at a crossroads, Gilbert steps out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life, embarking on a journey around the world that becomes a quest for self-discovery. Eat Pray Love proves that there really is more than one way to let yourself go and see the world.

Everyone who sees Eat Pray Love describes the "eat" section as making them very hungry for pizza! Don't leave the theatre hungry, come early and order one of our fine pizzas and enjoy it during the mouthwatering parts of the film!

Breakfast at Tiffany's is the September presentation, Thursday, September 9 at 8pm. The story is simple enough - a lonely, struggling writer (George Peppard) becomes enchanted with his neighbor: an independent young woman (Audrey Hepburn) who strives to be a high-climbing socialite with a penchant for high-fashion and wild parties. But, soon he uncovers the vulnerability she has at heart. Audrey Hepburn is at her stylish best here, the music by Henry Mancini is unforgettable (Moon River) and director Blake Edwards really works his magic. The combination of these elements makes this a must see! Come early to watch and dine! Bone up on your classics history and complete in the trivia quiz (with prizes) before the film.

Don't forget, we are the East Bay's Best Date Night! Every Wednesday we are excited to offer a pint of one of our premium beers and a slice of a cheese or pepperoni pizza for $6! Treat yourself to a mid week break - come in for a slice!

Over at the Elmwood (2966 College Avenue at Ashby in Berkeley) we have Soul Kitchen, the toast of last year's Toronto Film Festival, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Extra Man with Kevin Kline, and Eat Pray Love. Chills will be multiplyin' and the mood electrifyin' as the Grease Sing-A-Long comes to the Elmwood on September 10 - don't miss it!
